When Jesus Christ became my Lord and Savior at that moment I felt fulfilled; the void, the emptiness, had been filled. The life I was discontent with, constantly striving to gain more and more, had finally been fulfilled by a Savior.

With a new life brought new dreams and a new lifestyle. My outlook on life had changed. My purpose in life had changed. Instead of my life being self-centered, it started becoming Christ-centered.

However, we are all sons and daughters of Adam and have a natural instinct to be sinful and discontent. We become discontent with our family, spouse, church, job, singleness, and everything under the sun. The prince of darkness still reigns on the earth, and each day, just as he did with Eve in the garden and Jesus in the wilderness, will tempt us to become discontent with the provision and will of God.

Contentment can only come in Christ. He is the only one who can save, who can satisfy, who will be steadfast and faithful, and He is the only one who can complete us.

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;

–Colossians 2:9-10

Christ has rule and authority over all things. In Christ our salvation is complete. In Christ we have been given every spiritual blessing (Eph 1:3). I journaled these promises down the other day, because I needed a reminder to be content in Christ. He is in control, my salvation is secure in Him, and He has supplied me with everything I will ever need. How could I ever forget?

This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.

–Psalm 119:50
